Um (Yin)/ Yang
Um/Yang represents the Korean philosophy,
"All things in motion, All things in Balance."
The outer circle of the Um/Yang represents wholeness,
while the red and blue shapes within the circle represent the interaction of two energies, called “Um” (blue)
and “Yang” (red).
“Um” represents the dark, passive, feminine energy, and “Yang” represents
bright, active, masculine energy. The shape of the Um and Yang sections of the symbol represents the continual movement of
these two energies which causes everything in life to happen.
In martial arts we seek to understand
our complete nature, both Um and Yang, so we can channel all our energies into positive, life giving activities.
